A monograph of
thirty-eight to forty-two
considered rooms.

Each year the atelier accepts a deliberately small number of commissions — never more than forty-two, often fewer. The pages that follow are a selection of that work: principal-led, single-team, fixed-price. To discuss a project of your own, the studio opens with a paid consultation of S$280.

Interlude

A vocabulary of materials, slowly gathered.

The studio does not chase trends, nor does it warehouse finishes. Over fifteen years a small vocabulary has been gathered — used often, understood deeply, made in our own workshop when the brief asks for it.

Timber arrives as European oak, Burmese teak and the occasional figured walnut — selected board by board at the MacPherson workshop, where our four master craftsmen run an 8,000 sqft floor that produces custom joinery in ten to fourteen days. Lime-wash plaster is hand-trowelled in three to five coats, never spray-applied; the surface keeps the mark of the hand. Stone is ordered as full slabs — honed travertine, veined Calacatta, occasionally a quiet green serpentine — and book-matched on site.

Textiles are specified from a short list of mills in Belgium, Japan and northern India: hand-loomed wool, heavyweight linen, the occasional raw silk. Metalwork is patinated brass or blackened steel, fabricated locally in Geylang. Nothing is imported finished when it can be made ten kilometres from the studio.
